A new version of Ledger Chrome App allows users to choose the speed for transaction confirmation. If you want to confirm your transaction immediately, you have to pay up to $0.3 USD per 1 KB of your data.

Ledger announced their decision both on Reddit and on Twitter:

“As the number of broadcasted transactions continues to rise, it gets more and more difficult to get quick confirmation using fixed fees.”

The company introduced the following fees:
Fast confirmation (next blockchain data block)  -          1.01 mBTC ($0.29)
Medium confirmation (confirms in 3 blocks)      -          0.45 mBTC ($0.13)
Low (confirms in 5 blocks)                             -          0.39 mBTC ($0.11)

Users can choose the transaction speed when they send bitcoins to another user using Ledger wallet.

Reaction of Reddit bitcoiners was generally positive. “This is awesome, like this must implement Mycelium, breadwallet, Electrum and Armory too,” wrote a user under alias Zyklon87.

Ledger is a French firm that produces hardware bitcoin wallets. Ledger Wallet Nano looks like a flash drive measuring at 61mm x 12mm x 4mm and plugs into a USB port. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS and even comes with a free Google Chrome application.

The price of the device on the company's website is €34.80 or 0.1645 BTC. The price for the main competing product – Trezor wallet by Czekh company Satoshilabs – is $119. Both hardware wallets are popular with Reddit users.

This January, Ledger has closed a seed round for €1.3 million from a group of French investors led by XAnge Capital. They plan to use the funding to develop security solutions for private keys.
