The price of digital currency dropped from $268 to $258 this weekend.

According to CoinDesk bitcoin price index, the price of the digital currency drifted down all Sunday, reaching $258 at 17:00 UTC. At BTC-e exchange the price of one bitcoin fell to $254.

On Tuesday the price of one bitcoin was above $270. It began the long way down on Wednesday. On Saturday one unit of digital currency cost around $265. It fell to $257 between 18:00 UTC and 22:00 UTC that day.

The fall of the price did not cause any panic among the players. In the English chat of BTC-e exchange people were discussing plot theories, while people in Russian chat of the same exchange were talking about the recent explosion on chemical factory in Northern China.

This is not the fist “weekend crash” of bitcoin this month. As CoinFox reported earlier, during the first weekend of August, the price of bitcoin fell from $280 to $265.

During the last month, the price of bitcoin showed all the signs of recovery, sitting slightly above the $275 mark at press time. Good news from Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam, as well as the Greece debt crisis and Chinese market crash, all seem to have contributed to the recent growth of bitcoin.
