The launch of the blockchain platform Telegram Open Network (TON) is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019, the Telegram said in its letter to investors. Testing of TON has ended successfully.

Although Telegram still prefers not to publicly talk about its plans to launch the blockchain platform, the wide cryptocurrency community regularly receives messages about the ongoing developments of TON. According to the latest letter to investors, the TON platform will be launched in the third quarter, The Block reports. In the document, Telegram notifies that the recent successful testing process “reaffirms our belief that the TON virtual machine and the TON ... Byzantine consensus algorithm are capable of meeting the goals stated in the original white paper.”

In February, in its letter to investors, Telegram announced that TON is 90% ready, and also told about plans to include its token, Gram, in the listing of major Asian cryptocurrency exchanges, such as Binance, Huobi, and OKEx.

In April, Telegram launched a closed testing process which was open to a limited number of teams of professionals in blockchain. Teams were able to install the TON blockchain network nodes, but there were no specific test results.

During two rounds of private ICO, the blockchain platform TON raised $1.7 billion in 2018. Although Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, kept secret about the blockchain platform, all information leaked to the media. After Durov's legal entity files documents with the US securities regulator US Stock Exchanges (SEC), the amounts raised from investors became known publicly.
