Bitcoiners are optimistic but they do not expect to become millionaires overnight anymore, says Coindesk Bitcoin Price Survey. They believe in slow but inexorable growth of bitcoin and hope for the ending to its volatility.

2,702 bitcoiners took part in the recent survey conducted by Coindesk. 54% expressed moderate optimism, believing that by the end of the year the price of one bitcoin will be between $300 and $500. Further 14% could be qualified as “moderate pessimists”. They believe the bitcoin price will stay between $200 and $300. These two groups account for 68% of those who took part in the survey.

In 2014, the expectations were quite different. As CoinFox already wrote, 56% of bitcoiners who took part in a similar survey in January 2014 believed that the bitcoin price would reach $10,000 by the end of the year. Other analysts often named prices between $1,300 and $5,000. After 2013, when bitcoin price oscillated between $13 and $1,147, it did not seem unrealistic. However, for those who expected an explosive growth, 2014 and the beginning of 2015 were a great disappointment. The price fell from $775 in January 2014 to a little above $300 a year later and reached its nadir at $177 on 14 January.

However, in the last month the price of bitcoin showed all the signs of recovery, sitting slightly above the $275 mark at press time. Good news from Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam, as well as the Greece debt crisis and Chinese market crash, all seem to have contributed to the recent growth of bitcoin. Most respondents to the survey seem to think it will continue to develop in the same way. No major country seems to have plans of imposing a total ban on bitcoin and new crises are inevitable. 64% of Coindesk readers stated that their opinion on the future bitcoin price was influenced by the Greek crisis.

Of course, there are still people who expect a tremendous growth or tremendous fall of bitcoin but they are now in a distinct minority. Only 5% of the survey respondents believe bitcoin will fall below $200. 18% believe that one bitcoin will cost between $500 and $1,000. Another 5% of the Coindesk survey respondents believe that bitcoin will rise to $1,000-3,000 before the end of the year. And finally, 1% is certain that the price of bitcoin will reach $9,000-11,000.
