Indiegogo and Kickstarter, the largest crowdfunding platforms in the world, have voiced out their views on ICOs. while Kickstarter refuses to use the new method of attracting funding, Indiegogo declares the launch of a special ICO marketplace.

The San Francisco-based platform Indiegogo launched a special site for the initial coin offerings. The main feature of the platform is that Indiegogo specialists together with the employees of the licensed US broker MicroVentures will check the tokens for compliance with the requirements of the US securities legislation, as well as conduct preliminary assessment of the projects for their prospects and the absence of fraudulent actions before their placement on the site.

As stated by Indiegogo, the platform decided to accept a new method of attracting financing in response to numerous requests from start-ups.

“In some ways, cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies are poised to change everything. But for us, this is simply another way of doing what we’ve been working on for the past decade. It’s a powerful way to help people unite around ideas that matter to them, and together make them come to life. Now, we’re ready to become the go-to platform for selling and investing in digital tokens and blockchain-based assets, and we can’t wait for you to join us,” Indiegogo said in a statement.

The first ICO-project to be placed on Indiegogo is the Fan-Controlled Football League, which previously held its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The project implies the creation of an ecosystem in which participants will independently decide on the actions of football teams, choose who will hold the match, what the team will be called and what form it will take.

On the other hand, Kickstarter, the other largest crowdfunding platform in the world, based in Brooklyn, categorically refused to work with ICO-projects.

“The answer is 100 percent a very firm no,” a company spokesperson said, explaining that this contradicts the five postulates of the platform's charter.

Kickstarter's mission is to help bring creative projects to life, the charter reads.
