The US-based rating agency Weiss published updated rating on 93 cryptocurrencies. Seven cryptocurrencies from the top 10 by capitalization are named the best.

In the new Weiss ranking, seven cryptocurrencies with capitalization of over $5 billion were granted B: Bitcoin (BTC), Cardano (ADA), EOS (EOS), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Stellar (XLM) and TRON (TRX).

Weiss Ratings is the financial rating agency that currently publishes reviews and ratings of cryptocurrencies. The rating is distributed free of charge among subscribers.

The worst scores (D and E) received 4 cryptprojects, which are Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Private, Electroneum and ReddCoin.

In addition, Weiss for the first time explained its main criteria for assessing each cryptocurrency. The first criterion is the assessment of technology and adoption of the cryptocurrency, and the second is the ratio of investment risk and reward.

"Developers want a grade based exclusively on what their cryptocurrency project has achieved in terms of technology and adoption, regardless of market fluctuations. In contrast, investors seem to be more interested in how much money they can make or lose. Our overall Weiss Rating is a blend of both. But now, we are also breaking out the components so users can better understand what’s under the hood," Weiss Ratings founder Martin Weiss explained.

As it is explained in the rating, bitcoin's score B- is composed of a B grade for Technology/Adoption and a D+ for Investment Risk/Reward, while Cardano and EOS were rated A- for Technology/Adoption.
