Since the beginning of the year, the number of ATMs providing services for purchase or sale of cryptocurrencies has almost doubled. The majority of them allows to buy and sell bitcoins and is located in the US.
According to data provided by Coin ATM Radar, there are 3508 cryptocurrency ATMs currently in the world. As of 4 December 2017, there were only 1,893 machines all around the globe.
The largest manufacturers of equipment are Genesis Coin and General Bytes. They account for 33.7% and 26.74% of the global market of crypto ATM production, respectively.
Of the 3508 ATMs, only slightly more than half, or 1,844 ATMs, support altcoins. The most popular altcoin is Litecoin with 1738 ATMs installed around the world. Ethereum occupies the second place, with 1121 ATMs allowing to sell or buy ETH.
The speed of installing cryptocurrency ATMs in the world exceeded 8 machines per day, while in December the growth rate was just above 4 ATMs per day.
Almost three quarters of all bitcoin ATMs are located in North America. The US is the leader, with 2036 ATMs located there. The second place is occupied by Canada with 535 crypto ATMs, and Great Britain is the third country by the number of crypto ATMs, with 169 vending machines installed.
