Bitfilm launches a crowdfunding campaign for the first feature-length fiction film about bitcoin and the blockchain technology. The campaign supported by Max Keiser's Startjoin.com starts on 25 August.

According to a press release, producers promise to shoot a suspense film with a thriller plot telling about the world totally redesigned by the blockchain technology. Governments and banks lost their monopoly and people live in voluntary decentralised communities.

Aaron Koenig, the film’s producer said:

“There are several good documentaries about Bitcoin. But not many people watch documentaries. In order to have a significant impact on mainstream culture, one has to tell a compelling story that fascinates people.”

The campaign will be launched on theStartjoin.com platform, founded by Max Keiser, a famous American film maker and broadcaster. He may play a villain in the future film.

The budget of the film is estimated at 2 million dollars. Producers aim to collect first $80,000 through a crowdfunding round for finishing the script, casting and production design. Most of the film will be shot in Argentina. “Satoshi’s Last Will” project is supported by Genesis Mining and Satoshi Labs.

Koenig explains the goal of the new film:

“A cinema film which shows the potential of Bitcoin and blockchain technology to a mainstream audience can help to improve Bitcoin’s public image. So I hope that everybody who loves Bitcoin chips in some coins. I think it will also be a good investment, as lots of positive mainstream media coverage can help to increase the Bitcoin price. Our ultimate goal is to reach a major breakthrough for Bitcoin.”
