Slovenian Business Development and Corporate Communication company GreCom, which works closely with bitcoin digital currency, has launched a new bitcoin ATM in Ljubljana. The capital of Slovenia now has six bitcoin machines in total, four of them run by GreCom.

The new two-way 24/7 bitcoin ATM is installed at a petrol station at Celovška cesta and charges 4% transaction fees. No KYC rules operate on the machine and the limit for a single transaction is €10,000. Other GreCom's bitcoin ATMs in Ljubljana are situated at a phone store, at Grand Hotel Union, and in Hotel Slon.

Last year GreCom organised the first Central & Eastern Europe bitcoin conference in Ljubljana which took place in Hotel Slon. Speakers included representatives of GoCoin, BTCX Sweden, Ethereum, Bitcoin Foundation and others.

GreCom's main competitor in Slovenia is Bitnik, which services two bitcoin ATMs in Ljubljana. One is installed at Hostel Tresor, the other at World Trade centre.

Slovenian government was among the first in Europe to make an attempt to clarify the tax status of bitcoin. In 2013 the Ministry of Finance in its formal response to the Tax Administration confirmed that bitcoin is not a monetary asset or a financial instrument. The regulations, however, remain ambiguous.
