Coinfinity, the bitcoin company from Graz, Austria, asks for donations to help Syrian refugees. Together with prominent NGO Jugend Eine Welt, the bitcoin company will use the digital currency to buy mobile phone cards for new migrants.

The company posted the call for donations on a special page of their website:

“We set up a secure multisig wallet to safely receive bitcoin donations. Please send your donations to this address: 3F84eghroCAb9Crjcy1L3D6GKog1CpRUGK,” says Coinfinity. 

The company applies every effort to make the donation marathon transparent to the community.

“The donation address is part of a multisig wallet created at Coinkite, both Jugend Eine Welt and Coinfinity hold one key. Funds will be withdrawn once a week, starting on October 19. We’re currently looking for a way to directly purchase SIM cards with BTC, but most probably we’ll have to sell the donated BTC for Euro. This will be done by Coinfinity with 0% fees.”

The group of early bitcoin adopters found Coinfinity back in 2011. It functions as a bitcoin exchange, organizes bitcoin events in Austria and consults businesses and entrepreneurs interested in bitcoin.

Main office of Coinfinity is located on Mariahilferstraße in the Austrian city of Graz. The company also has an office in Austrian capital Vienna. Several other bitcoin companies, including Mycelium wallet service, are based in this city.

This is not the first bitcoin donation marathon taking place this autumn to support Syrian refugees. On 5 October bitcoin platform Cubits launched Refugee Relief service to mobilise the bitcoin community for helping refugees coming to Europe. The service provides an opportunity to donate bitcoins to any of the four chosen charity organisations, each of them having their own Cubits-based bitcoin wallet.

Earlier this year Coinfinity provided technical support for MAK Vienna, also known as Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, when the museum was purchasing with bitcoins the digital artwork Event Listeners by Harm van den Dorpel.
