A month-long Borderless Block Party hackathon for high school and undergraduate university students starts in November. During the hackathon participants are expected to create innovative fintech solutions using bitcoin blockchain.

The criteria by which the products will be judged are uniqueness, technological performance and relevance, that is, containing a solution for a fundamental problem which has never been solved before. The main prize includes $1,000 reward, three-month membership with Barclay’s rise hub, mentoring from ThinkRise.com and a trip to Ibiza.

The hackathon is organised by the College Cryptocurrency Network supported by Barclays, Augur, BitGo, Blockchain, Ethereum and Factom.

In course of the hackathon mentoring will be provided to the participants by the leading experts in the field.

“The Borderless Block Party aims to help passionate students explore these amazing technologies and show to the world what the new paradigm of collaboration and production looks like,” say the College Cryptocurrency Network's representatives.

The winner will be chosen by the Ethereum founder and lead developer Vitalik Buterin, Provable chief scientist Piotr Piasecki and the “bitcoin kid” Whit Jackson. Another blockchain hackathon is scheduled on 6-8 November in Dublin. Unlike Borderless Block Party, it is not confined to bitcoin and financial projects, leaving the participants freedom to choose any topic they like.
