Bitcoin Foundation found it reasonable to change fixed permanent status in the board of Satoshi Nakamoto, the alleged creator of bitcoin digital currency, to “optional” seat, because he has not formally accepted his position.

The Foundation board members have voted for a number of changes to introduce after a series of dramatic events. These include the dismissal of two board members who had urged to dissolve the organisation due to “identity crisis” the foundation is going through and the lack of vision and perspective.

Now, along with the election of two board members, and a third person for a newly established position “International member seat”, Bitcoin Foundation has decided to introduce some improvements. First of them concerns the bitcoin creator’s status:

“Satoshi Nakamoto was originally listed within the founding member class of the Bitcoin Foundation board. Since we have no indication that knowledge that Satoshi accepted this seat, the board votes to change this seat to optional.”

Still, if Satoshi himself requests, the press-release says, “the board would name him or her to the board automatically.”

A draft of newly formulated mission has also been released in a form of statement which reads:

“Mission: To help advance Bitcoin and related technology through education advocacy and outreach across the globe by focusing on three primary areas:
1) Fostering Core Development
2) Furthering education & adoption
3) Working to limit harmful regulations and encourage technical rather than regulatory solutions.”

Bitcoin Foundation is the oldest and the largest group in the industry, founded to “standardize, protect and promote the use of Bitcoin cryptographic money for the benefit of users worldwide.”
