The first recurring bitcoin transactions plugin is available for downloading. It is designed to make possible debiting regular payments like subscription fees, donations and tips from their account in BTC.

Peanuts.lq is a special code that allows website owners to deal with bitcoin transactions. It creates a payment button that enables their customers to download the plugin to a mobile device or computer as a file. The tool works on top of iCalendar and Bitcoin URI. Once it is downloaded, the file synchronises with the calendar application, creates a recurring event there and notifies the user about the time of the next regular payment. These notifications will use the Bitcoin URI that, in its turn, will launch the default bitcoin wallet already installed on the device where all necessary payment information (address, amount, etc.) is inserted. Thus, necessary amounts will be withdrawn from customers’ credit and debit cards automatically at regular intervals.

The developers claim that the system should function with any Liquid engine compatible with the original one created by Shopify.
The code was written by a group of activists who call themselves MiceEatCheese. The developers of the tool decipher its name, Peanuts, as follows: “P and E for payments, A and N for donations, U for recurring, and T and S for tips.”

As some bitcoin community members argue in their blogs, the tool offered by Peanuts has a potential to lead to bitcoin increasingly gaining ground.
