Ethereum has announced the software giant’s “premiere sponsorship” for the second developers’ conference Devcon2 scheduled for 19-21 September, as part of the 2016 International Blockchain Week.

Designed to bring together brilliant minds working on the development of the Ethereum ecosystem, the event will be held along with the 2nd Global Blockchain Summit to let the developers meet industry leaders and entrepreneurs and to work out guidelines for the future development of the technology.

“We are very happy to have Microsoft’s sponsorship for Devcon2 and highly appreciate their continued support and collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation and the Ethereum ecosystem. We look forward to continuing to work together in the future,” said the founder of Ethereum and Chief Scientist of the Ethereum Foundation Vitalik Buterin.

Microsoft has been involved with the blockchain for quite a while, providing Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) hyperscale cloud platform, for which Ethereum has developed its own toolkit. During the conference, Microsoft representatives will be invited to expand on the possible BaaS application for businesses and governmental structures.

“We’re thrilled to support the Ethereum Foundation’s Devcon2, which will bring together pioneers in blockchain from all over the world. The Ethereum blockchain is powerful, and we’re looking forward to continuing the collaborative relationship with the Ethereum community, together bringing the best of blockchain technology to our cloud platform, Microsoft Azure,” said the Director of Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Business Development at Microsoft Marley Gray.

Hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs, a parallel to Devcon2 event Blockchain Global Summit will host a series of panel discussions and talks by blockchain pioneers and the industry leaders addressing “current and future business use cases, economic and social impacts, as well as how blockchain technology may be utilized and deployed for trade and other industries.”

Both events will last from 19 to 24 September and include a Demo Day for showcasing new startups and blockchain related initiatives.
