American bitcoin/blockchain community celebrates Independence Day with three days of free trading from CEX.IO, gambling bonuses from BetChain Casino and blockchain-registered Reebok sneakers.

The bitcoin community being young and cosmopolitan, the Fourth of July seems much less popular among them than, for instance, St. Valentine’s Day. However, it was not forgotten by bitcoin and blockchain companies.

UK-based bitcoin exchange CEX.IO decided to celebrate US Independence Day by giving its American customers three days of free trading in all pairs of currencies, from 4 to 7 July. The only requirement is to have a verified account or a payment card proving the user really comes from the US. CEX.IO trades in bitcoin, ether, litecoin, US dollar, Euro and Russian Ruble. Normal fees range from 0.1 to 0.2%.

BetChain Casino offered a speсial bоnus to all gamblers regardless of their origin. On 4 July, all the players could get 24 free spins on any slot game of their choice, “one for every decade of US independence.” To receive these spins, they were obliged to deposit either 0.24 BTC, $24 or €24 during two last days before the holiday. In a press release, the Casino also encouraged gamblers to bet on Euro 2016 football matches, specifying that “Iceland bettors can potentially get back 10 times their initial bet,” and Wimbledon matches.

The famous sports shoes producer Reebok dеcided to team up with Washington-based sneaker shop Major and blockchain startup Chronicled to celebrate US Independence Day by creating a limited edition of classic sneakers. The shoes are made in the style of 80’s and 90’s and carry the colours of the American flag, with stars glowing in the dark. To prove their authenticity, the shoes are гegistered on blockchain:

“In a new twist for the innovative retailer, the shoe will be equipped with an encrypted ‘smart tag’ from San Francisco technology startup Chronicled. Each tag contains a tiny chip with a unique and unforgeable product ‘fingerprint’, stored on the Ethereum blockchain. The tags are tamper-proof and scannable with a smart phone, guaranteeing that no one can ever pass off a counterfeit version or falsely claim ownership of a stolen shoe.”

One pair is worth $130. First buyers of the sneakers will also get a Major and Reebok Stars & Stripes T-Shirt for free.
