One of the most popular bitcoin wallets has released an update adding support for Keepkey hardware wallet. Mobile application Mycelium is now available for the iOS users.

Keepkey is a safe cryptocurrency wallet which generates and stores encoded user’s keys on a small portable device with an OLED display.

To send bitcoin, Mycelium creates a transaction and transfers it to the KeepKey device via a USB cable. After that, KeepKey asks the user to check and confirm the address. Having received confirmation, KeepKey signs the transaction directly on the device and transfers it back to Mycelium wallet.

Developers note that as private keys never leave the KeepKey device, there is no risk of theft or loss from infected smartphones or computers. The updated Mycelium supports three largest hardware wallets - Trezor, Ledger and KeepKey.

In mid-July, Mycelium announced support for Dash tokens, the world’s eighth cryptocurrency by market capitalisation. Mycelium allows its users to buy, sell and store Dash in their digital wallets. The integration of Dash tokens will come along with the redesign of the wallet.

According to Mycelium developers, the application will be available on the AppStore after some debugging to make sure the wallet is compatible with iOS.

“With our recent internal change in how we plan to go forward, our iOS wallet will continue to be supported and developed. More information on that will be released a bit later,” Mycelium said in its statement.
