The project is aimed at coordination of the technology development and interaction with the authorities. The group will come up with a plan for a new blockchain hub.

The creation of the new blockchain governing organisation called Muskoka Group was initiated by Canadian scientist Don Tapscott, the author of the bestseller Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything, and his son Alex Tapscott, CryptoCoinsNews reports.

The association members include the Hyperledger founder Brian Behlendorf, ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin, BitFury director for global communications Jamie Smith, Bloq co-founder Matthew Roszak, Linux Foundation executive director Jim Zemlin, Chamber of Digital Commerce President Perianne Boring, as well as Tomicah Tillemann from New America Foundation.

Muskoka Group has published a joint statement, announcing plans to come up with a roadmap for the development of blockchain technology and creation of a blockchain hub.

The organisation is currently self-financed, the father and son Tapscott are planning to cooperate with the authorities in order to help them understand the importance of the technology and the possibility to use it for the transformation of the government system.

“Technology is not a panacea. Without strong leadership from everyone in this industry – working collaboratively – blockchain may never reach its potential,” Tapscotts explained.

Muskoka Group is open for cooperation and welcomes new members to join the organisation, the joint statement says.
