BitX and ZAZOO have announced partnership that enables BitX users to use VCPay technology and spend bitcoin offline and without a mobile network.

Bitcoin users get to spend their digital currency using prepaid virtual MasterCards. The new partnership between the bitcoin exchange and wallet service BitX and the business unit of Net1 Universal Electronic Payment System (UEPS) makes this possible. Customers will be able to use the app on their mobile devices to make payments online or at any point of sale that accepts debit and credit cards. Basically, VCPay works as an alternative to plastic cards and can be used anywhere in the world. The technology does not require users or merchants to be aware of the involvement of bitcoin digital currency in the process.

The initial target regions for the new integration are Europe, Singapore, Philippines, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Malaysia, and Indonesia, according to Philip Belamant, Managing Director at ZAZOO.

“We are very excited to be working with BitX as cryptocurrencies are starting to gain prominence worldwide, and are positioned to be one of the next big things in the fintech space,” Belamant added.

BitX is a quickly developing bitcoin company which already teamed up with a number of payment providers, such as CodaPayments in Singapore and PayFast in South Africa. As CoinFox reported recently, BitX enabled South African customers to pay for mobile phone minutes and data bundles in bitcoin.
