ChangeTip, the industry leader in micropayments and social tipping, has added an option that allows its users to broadcast their location using GPS and to find others in their vicinity using the ChangeTip app.

The platform, which enables P2P payments in the form of donations, gifts or tips, has added a new “Explore” option to its app that allows contactless payments. The function can be used in order to tip servers, drivers and any other staff easier and without additional fees, that is, by selecting an individual nearby discovered via GPS.

Victoria van Eyk of ChangeTip announced:

“We’re living in an increasingly cashless society, and it’s the most obvious when I go to tip a busker, leave some change in a tip jar, or attempt to donate a person in need. The ChangeTip app allows me to solve this problem just by using my mobile phone.”

Clients can use a ChangeTip “pocket” in order to keep their money for future uses; the option is similar to a virtual wallet.

In 2015 the company successively developed several initiatives. In January ChangeTip introduced tipping on Facebook. Later, in May, it allowed its users to tip musicians with SoundCloud. In August together with DirectRelief, the company launched a fundraising campaign to procure vitamins for pregnant women in Africa. Finally, in November ChangeTip created a new mobile app that allows users to send bitcoins with an emoji.
