Bitfinex customers will be able to exchange its digital tokens (BFX) for equity in the parent company iFinex Inc. The investment company BnkToTheFuture is helping to bring this plan to life.

“We have formally signed a letter of intent with BnkToTheFuture, the online investment platform for financial innovation and technology investment opportunities, to provide solutions towards compensating customers with equity in Bitfinex,” the exchange’s press release reads.

The plans to distribute iFinex stock were revealed on 7 August. The digital tokens will be issued to refund the assets lost due to the cyberattack on 2 August and the following “socialisation” of losses. Now Bitfinex is going to proceed with technical implementation of the project.

According to the company’s community relations director Zane Tackett,

“The next steps are to continue our discussions with BnkToTheFuture and work towards putting this plan in action.”

The data quoted in the press release shows that investment rounds organised by BnkToTheFuture last year brought the company in total more than $70 million. BitPay, BitPesa, Uphold and Shapeshift are in the list of its partners.

In October 2015, the company launched a special purpose vehicle to invest in Bitcoin Group. It managed to raise $2,969,628 (81% of the minimum investment goal) during the first two days.
